The pile of this carpet is made of wool
A lovely 19th century Ningxia carpet with a peony medallion and scattered antiques and floral sprigs. The field has spandrel corner guards and is enclosed by a minor pearl dot border, a running T border and a peony and vinery border with dark and medium blue guard bands and a blue surround. The condition of the carpet: Losses to each end. This carpet has old repiling which is extensive. At one point the repiled blue areas oxidized and were dyed to restore true color. These dyed areas have been removed and repiled and most but not all of the dye has been removed from the foundation. |
