More about the provenance Anatolia, ca. 1930 | Turkey
Rugs which are made in the Asian part of Turkey are called Anatolian rugs. The Anatolian carpet can be traced back to the 13th century. There are pieces in relatively good condition from that period in museums and Anatolian rugs are also mentioned in Marco Polo's journey tales. The Anatolian carpet production of today is spread throughout the Asian part of Turkey, also called "Little Asia".
