More about the provenance Ghiassabad, antique | Iran
Ghiassabad is located in West Iran near Arak and belongs to the Sarouk carpet making region. Until 1920 rugs with low pile in naturalistic floral designs resembling the fine Sarouks have been made here. This old tradition has been resumed here. Ghiassabad rugs are of high quality and a sophisticated further development of the Sarouk rugs. The used wool is of outstanding quality with no exception. Altogether a high quality noble Persian rug of high durability.
This Oriental rug has a so called "open design". Any rug in which the medallion is surrounded by a large area of a plain one-colored field and if at all have corner patterns within the field. The open design is currently experiencing a come back and became very popular.
