This rug has a signature
This carpet has a total of approximately 3,105,000 knots and it took skilled carpet makers about 4,140 hours or 460 working days to hand-knot this carpet.
Moud is located in East Persia and belongs to the region of Birjand. Mouds are the most valuable works of this highly significant carpet region. Mostly Moud rugs are made of finer and softer wool than other Persian rugs and therefore allow them to have more dense and subtle designs and patterns. They are mostly woven with the Persian knot as opposed to the Turkish knot with which most Persian rugs are made.
This Oriental rug has been treated with a "Noble Finish" wash. This wash includes not only the actual cleaning of the carpet but also its processing (ennobling) which represents an increase in the Oriental carpet's value. By this special technique a soft and silky feel and shine are added to the carpet. This washing technique requires experience and skill since otherwise carpets could easily be damaged by it. In this case the washing was implemented perfectly.
