Cuenca
Cuenca is a city in Spain South West of Madrid. Cuenca used to be a Spanish carpet making city, which had already been mentioned in the 12th century. Cuenca carpets of the 16th and 17th century are preserved in some museums and are often being labeled with coats of arms. In their pattern and design the cuenca carpets of the 18th century were often influenced by Anatolian designs. Antique Cuenca rugs in good condition are a very valuable rarity.
