Ekbatan

The Hamadan of today was built on the ruins of the city of Ekbatan. Hamadan is located in North-West Iran, it has an ancient tradition of carpet making. Those carpet manufactories which are in the actual city of Hamadan (and not in the region around it) produce particularly fine pieces of high quality which are then called Hamadan-Shahrbaf or Ekbatan.
