Makhmalbaf
A high quality Mashad rug named after the Master Haji Mohammad Ibrahim Makhmal which has been made in the Makhmal manufacure wich belonged to the Makhmal family. The great master made and mixed the (purely vegetable) colors himself behind closed doors and the results were stunningly beautiful, of high quality and are still legendary to this day. In older age he lost sanity and never revealed his secrets until he died. The manufacure is not in the hands of the Makhmal family anymore but there are a few carpet makers who resumed the art of richly patterned Medallion Makhmalbafs.
