More about the provenance Varamin | Iran
Varamin is located in North Iran approx. 50 km South East of Teheran. Due to the closeness to the wealthy capital city Teheran, the rug making in Varamin has been influenced and inspired by Teheran rug culture, they are counted among the most high value rugs of Iran. The quality of Varamin rugs is quite robust and the pile is relatively high, the weaving is almost without exception very thorough and precise. The most common design among Varamin rugs is the "Mina Khani" design. The foundation is mostly made of cotton, the Persian Senneh-knot is used for these rugs as opposed to the more widespread Turkish knot. Varamin is considered being among the elite of Persian carpets.
